Chapter 1 – The long Flight
When David looked out the airplane window, all he could see was endless prairie.
No mountains.
No skyscrapers.
Only fields stretching to the horizon.
He had left China with his wife and two suitcases, chasing a dream that felt both exciting and terrifying.
The immigration officer stamped his passport.
“Welcome to Canada.”
Those three words changed everything.
A few weeks later, David found himself standing outside a small apartment building in Brandon, Manitoba.
The wind was cold.
The streets were quiet.
Nothing looked like the big cities he had imagined.
“Did we make the right decision?” his wife asked.
David smiled.
“I don’t know yet.”
But deep inside, he knew this was the beginning of a completely new life.
